BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Douglas Newton was born in Washington, DC. He has a BA in Economics from Stanford University and attended Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. After a career as an art director, he has been painting full time. Douglas is a realist painter specializing in contemporary still life. He paints in oil on canvas and works directly from life, not using photographs.
