BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Brian Pier

Born in Kenosha, WI in 1953 Brian spent most of his career in the construction trade before becoming a professional artist at the age of 58. By 2011 he was already exhibiting his work in New York City and in 2013 was represented and exhibiting in Floence, Italy.

Brian is primarily self taught but strongly influenced by many of the 19th century and early 20th century masters. He now spends most of his time working out of his studio and two galleries in Door County, WI. He studies and paints every day working only in oil and his passion is painting from life as he continually finds drama in the landscapes and people he paints. His paintings are all about the changing light and the way that it plays on the natural beauty that surrounds him. https://wwwbrianpierart.com
