Artists from 61 countries competed in the 2024 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography. The 300+ winning works, 1st to 6th Place (and ties) in all 50 categories, will be revealed in this column one category at a time, and also an upcoming movie.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Mike B. Davies

Award winning artist Mike B. Davies is truly a triple threat, with amazing skills in sculpture, painting and drawing/printmaking. Displaying many styles in each discipline, his subject matter is as diverse as his talents. With examples in his painting such as animal and human portraiture, land and seascape, along with his newest works in an original “splatter” style in acrylic paint. His sculptural works include wood, metal and polymer clay. He often employs movement by way of electric motors and built in lighting in many pieces.

Though very serious about his work, he doesn’t hesitate to incorporate his sense of humor into many of his pieces often hidden in the fine details.
