The WINNERS in CATEGORY 35 represent UK, LEBANON, BRAZIL, USA, CANADA, INDIA & SPAIN.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: PETER GOODHALL: A Fine Arts graduate with decades of painting in oils behind him and combining traditional and contemporary styles. The aim of achieving a significant degree of realism in his painting has always been a strong influence. Favouring close observation to capture his subject.

Photography provides a starting point and reference for both his contemporary and traditional style paintings. Photographs provide a wealth of material and considered selection then enables unique compositions to be created.

There is no intention to compete with the camera! Instead by using a range of painting techniques on linen canvas, ranging from meticulous blending of pigment rich paint to almost impressionistic brush work unique images are formed.

Peter is an international award winning artist with many years experience painting water and particularly the sea encompassing its multiple moods. The fascination with the sea and marine painting can be traced back to his childhood. The benefit of and views from a cliff top studio for 25 years of his career also provided a wealth of constant inspiration.

The true sense of the term ´waterscape painting´ is undoubtedly found in Peter Goodhall´s canvases. One of his waterscape paintings won the ´Oil Painting Prize´ at the Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition London, UK in 2023. His success in the American Art Awards over recent years with his ´waterscapes´ is testament to the popularity of his paintings and again his latest ´waterscape´ painting as been awarded first place in the realism landscape category in 2024. www.petergoodhall.com
