Artists from 58 countries competed in the 2025 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography. The 300+ winning works, 1st to 6th Place (and ties) in all 50 categories, will be revealed in this column one category at a time, and also an upcoming movie.

The WINNERS in CATEGORY 16. FLORAL — NOT REALISTIC represent PHILIPPINES, LATVIA, LITHUANIA, CHINA, USA, IRAN, FRANCE & HONG KONG.

BIO of 1st Place winner Fernando Robles, PSC,

Fine Artist | Educator | Juried Award Winner

Studios: Los Angeles | New York | Tagaytay, Philippines

Fernando Robles is an internationally awarded fine artist known for expressive realism and classical technique. His work spans portraiture, figurative painting, still life, and landscapes — each piece marked by light, emotion, and story.

Trained at institutions including the New York Academy of Art, Art Students League of New York, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts, Fernando studied under master painters such as Alyssa Monks, Gregg Kreutz, and Samuel Adoquei. A former apprentice of California artist Rafael Maniago, his style blends time-honored oil techniques like chiaroscuro and alla prima with the spirit of modern realism.

Fernando’s work has received top honors in international juried competitions across North America and Europe, with awards from the Portrait Society of America, Portrait Society of Canada, American Art Awards, and leading galleries.

He is a member of several major art institutions, including the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, Society of Canadian Artists, and the National Portrait Gallery (UK).

Fernando lives and works with his wife, abstract artist and critic Rebecca Robles, nurturing a life of creativity and shared vision across three international studios.

“I paint to preserve presence — light, gesture, and emotion that speak beyond the surface. Each work is a dialogue, a story told in silence. Art, for me, is a living conversation.”
