20 of USA’s Best Galleries & Museums vote in the AMERICAN ART AWARDS, arguably the most prestigious online art competition. In 2022, painters, sketchers, digital artists, photographers and sculptors from 69 countries submitted JPEGs for the 50 categories — to win gallery affiliation, career launch, high scores, great press and/or $5,000 in prizes.

Here are the winners in CATEGORY 3, WATERCOLOR — FIGURE.

1st Place Bio: Mario Panis

Mario Panis graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He worked briefly as an in-house artist for a financial services company. In 1993, he decided to devote his time fully to painting of portraits, human figure as well as landscapes. He is known in the local art scene for his realist works.

His paintings in various media (pastel, oil and watercolor), have won local and international acclaim, notably from the Portrait Society of America, Pastel Society of America and Spanish Pastel Society (Pintores Pastelistas Espanoles).

In 2019, he was elected as a signature artist of the Pastel Society of America. He is a member of Art Wednesday and Tuesday Group in the Philippines, Portrait Society of America and Pastel Society of America.

If he is not in his studio, he would most likely be be found restoring old school BMX bikes (from the ‘80s), cars and mini motorcycles in his basement garage. He also competes in downhill mountain bike races. The artist lives in Marikina City, Philippines, with his wife and two children. https://www.facebook.com/people/Mario-Panis-Visual-Artist/100063618854586/
