20 of USA’s Best Galleries & Museums vote in the AMERICAN ART AWARDS, arguably the most prestigious online art competition. In 2022, painters, sketchers, digital artists, photographers and sculptors from 69 countries submitted JPEGs for the 50 categories — to win gallery affiliation, career launch, high scores, great press and/or $5,000 in prizes.

Here are the winners in CATEGORY 9, CUBISM, CUBIC.

1st Place Bio: CORNÉ AKKERS

I started my professional art career at age 35 after ending a successful career as a business lawyer. The internet offered me an online showcase through my own website and many affiliate websites focusing on displaying and selling art, such as Singulart, Saatchiart and Artfinder. Since then my work can be seen in many countries all over the world.

I employ a variety of styles that all have one thing in common: the ever search for the light on phenomena and all the shadows and light planes they block in. My favorites in doing so are oil paint, dry pastel and graphite pencil.

I combine figurative work with the search for abstraction. A specific style is what I call ‘roundism’ and is my personal version of traditional cubism practiced by Pablo Picasso and George Braque. The result is a combination of styled cubist figuration with attention to a sound atmospheric depth and feel for composition, anatomy and tonal rhythm. https://www.corneakkers.com
