David Yoffe
I came into this world in 1962 in Leningrad, Soviet Union …there is no such city and country anymore, so actually I am from nowhere.
I did not attend any art school, learned painting from my own experience and by visiting each and every museum and exhibition, possible.
Painting art, is something like “bottle mail” — you put your message in to the bottle and toss it into the sea … no way no knows, who will pick it up… oil on canvas can survive hundreds of years, artists are not… hopefully I can share creativity with them — Engineer must follow rules of country and physics, Architect must follow rules of city and cardinal directions, sculptor must follow rules of volume, only painter have no limits.
There are mistakes in my works, or at least something that I did not expected from myself. That is why most of my works are “ Flawristic”, having flaw, internal contradiction … looking at them some part of me says “yes” some part of me says “no», that’s not new: Errare humanum est.
In our days’ Artificial intelligence can learn any painting technics or style of any great artist, but there is something that AI will lose to artist — his mistakes, his doubts, his breaks the chain of logic…
My friends are bringing me verity of ideas about my works, but almost no one got the same idea that pushed me to do it- so Natural intelligence have problems with my art … probably Artificial one will miss it as well.
Maybe we humans will win this race, may be we not … but I will do my best. https://www.instagram.com/davidyoffe1/
