Artists from 61 countries competed in the 2024 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography. The 300+ winning works, 1st to 6th Place (and ties) in all 50 categories, will be revealed in this column one category at a time, and also an upcoming movie.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Liu Mengdi

graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the School of Fine Arts of Nanjing University of the Arts in 2015. She is a director of the Xicheng District Artists Association of Beijing. Her oil painting “Ode to Pear Blossoms” is collected by the National Center for the Performing Arts of China.

Awards:

In 2024, her oil painting “Spring Warmth” won the Talent Award of the “10th International Painting Open Competition”.

In 2022, her oil painting “Deep Autumn Water” won the Talent Award of the “3rd International Portrait Art Competition”.

In 2022, her oil painting “Tsinghua Academy” won the Talent Award of the “4th International Landscape Art Competition”.

In 2021, her oil painting “Decision-making Yangjialing” won the third prize of the “Image Beijing” Fine Arts Calligraphy and Photography Competition.

In 2018, her oil painting “Meeting” won the Excellence Award (the highest award) of the “Colorful.2018” National Women Painters’ Exhibition.
