BIO OF 1ST PLACE ARTIST: Lena Rivo

is an artist specializing in both plein air and studio painting. Her style blends impressionistic and realistic elements, aiming to capture the world with life-like accuracy. Each painting aims to be a window into the unique moment it captures.

Lena splits her time between Portugal and Spain, drawing inspiration from a range of subjects such as seascapes, landscapes, floral still lifes, animals, and human figures. When she paints, she thinks abstractly, searching for interesting contrasts, shapes, and color combinations. She focuses on conveying the mood of the scene by simplifying details, making it easier for viewers to immerse themselves in the motif.

Lena works with gouache, oil pastels, and oil. When she’s not painting, she enjoys reading, walking her dog, and exploring flea markets for unique objects to include in her still-life compositions. Lena surrounds herself with beauty, so that every corner of her world inspires her to create.
