BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Hello, I am Ricky Montilla, a Filipino born artist, currently residing in the United States. I pursued my passion for art by studying Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Painting at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Throughout my artistic journey, I have been fortunate to have several One Man Shows in the Philippines and the United States, allowing me to present my art to a diverse audience. Additionally, I have participated in numerous Group Shows across Asia and the US, further expanding my artistic horizons.

The beauty of nature and its elements have always served as a profound inspiration for my art — Influenced by Filipino National Artist, Fernando Amorsolo, and the French impressionist Claude Monet. I strive to create a realistic portrayal of nature, people, and other subjects. Through my brush strokes and vibrant colors, I aim to convey not only visual aspects but also the emotions, movements , and interplay of light, I have been exploring the fusion of classic art with modern artistry. My aim is to reach a wider audience, transcending age, and social status, and embodying the harmonious blend of the past and the present, traditional, and contemporary elements.

I am honored to be recognized for my dedication and talent through various awards. Some of my other recent achievements include Best in Show for my piece “Dapo Series ” at Shades of Green 2023 International Juried Visual Arts Competition held by Camelback Gallery . I was overjoyed to secure First Place position for my artwork Springtime Bloom at the TopArtAwards.com Year End Art Masters 2022 competition. I was awarded from my Alma Mater the UST Outstanding Alumni Award in April 2023 further highlighting my contribution to the field of art. Additionally I have served as a judge for prestigious art competitions such as the UST Student Art Competition and the I.AM.BENILDE Mural Interaction and Art Competition at the DLS College of St. Benilde. Furthermore, my artwork has been published in esteemed coffee table books and art magazines, including Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, Vol. 1 , Collection of Ageless Art , and Artist Spectrum Magazine.

As I continue to evolve as an artist, I am driven by my unwavering passion for creating meaningful art and connecting with viewers through my work. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given, and I look forward to further sharing my artistic journey with the world. www.rickymontilla.com
