Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: RAJASEKHARAN PARAMESWARAN

Rajasekharan is holding two individual Guinness World Records.

“The Guinness World Records ‘LARGEST EASEL’ was made by Rajasekharan — Parameswaran. It is 56.5 ft tall and 31 ft wide and holds the painting of EMS of size 50 ft width and 25 ft height and was measured on 19thApril 2008."

“The Guinness World Records ‘LARGEST DEVIL’S KNOT (EDAKOODAM)’ measured with each piece of the puzzle 7.30 m long, 0.60 m wide and 0.60 m high, and was achieved by Rajasekharan Parameswaran, at the Raviz, Kollam, Kerala, India on 27 December 2017. This is the second successful attempt at setting this record.”

Born in Vilavancode Taluk in Kanyakumari, Rajasekharan is a self-taught artist with many accolades for his work. Inspired by the works of Peter Paul Rubens and Rambrant, he started recreating his own world of realist portraits. His portraits of the celebrities are highly praised and features in many celebrated private collections now. www.rajasekharan.in

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: WIM HELDENS has conquered the old-fashioned craft of mimetic expression through painting, and his subjects are taken from his individual life experiences. His artistic development shows a quest for meaning, especially in relationships between people, where he finds the most concrete form of meaning which can exist in life. By depicting scenes from everyday life, he wants to show the universally human in terms of contact and situations.

The multi-award-winning work of Wim Heldens can be found in collections all over the world, among which the collection of the Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten in The Hague, the AMC Collection in Amsterdam, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira (New York), the Howard Tullman Collection in Chicago, the MEAM in Barcelona (the European Museum of Modern Art), and various private collections in the USA, England, Australia, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Taiwan and The Netherlands.
