The WORLD ART AWARDS winners in CATEGORY 26: NAÏVE ART / FIGURE live in ROMANIA, ISRAEL, USA, PORTUGAL, CHINA & COLOMBIA.

Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE ARTIST: MIHAI DASCALU

I was born on May 1, 1960, in the small town of Victoria, at the foot of the Fagaras mountains, in Romania. My drawings, since I was 5, were highly appreciated by the educators. In school I realized I had an innate flair for proportion. At 8 I painted for the first time in oil colors, on paper soaked with boiled linseed oil.

In 1979 I finished high school, I passed the entrance examination to the faculty and I did the army, 9 months in Buzau. My art was encouraged and I felt at ease painting in naïve style.

I participated in several exhibitions in Resita, but I started to attend some outside Romania, one of them being in Versailles, France.

In 2018 I managed to organize the first International Salon of Naïve Art in Oradea, 47 participants from 13 countries, with a total of 93 works Between 1984 and 2018, almost 35 years of exhibition activity, we organized 15 personal exhibitions and participated in over 120 group exhibitions. I also participated in several painting camps in Reșița, Băile Herculane, Gărina, Moldova Nouă, Bacău, Bratca, Aiud, but also in Greece. https://www.mihaidascalu.com/

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: DAVID YOFFE

I came into this world in 1962 in Leningrad, Soviet Union …there is no such city and country anymore. In 1987, when “Iron curtain” of Red Empire started to fall apart, moved to Israel. I did not attend any art school, learned painting from my own experience and by visiting each and every museum and exhibition, possible. For me painting art, is something like “bottle mail” — you put your message in the bottle and toss it into the sea … no way no know, who will pick it up… oil on canvas can survive hundreds of years , artist are not.

Started from 2015 participated in competitions and some exhibitions in Rome, Berlin, Venice, There are some mistakes in my works, or at least something that I do not expected from myself. But I am not sure that it is bad… Artificial intelligence can learn any painting technics or style of any great artist, but there is something that AL will lose to artist — his mistakes, his doubts, his breaks the chain of logic… https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/davidyoffe
