The WORLD ART AWARDS winners in CATEGORY 22: IMPRESSIONISM / LANDSCAPE live in AUSTRALIA, USA, CANADA, HUNGARY, CHINA, GREECE & GERMANY.

Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: JOHN MCCARTIN

Since commencing a full-time painting career in 2002, Australian artist, John McCartin, has been catapulted from relative obscurity to international acclaim. Since entering his first international art competition in 2011, he has received over 100 international art awards and has had his skill acknowledged by many of the world’s leading artists and galleries.

McCartin works effectively with most mediums and genres to capture a diverse range of subjects. With no formal art education, he continues to develop his craft through practice and observation. Studying the works of master artists has given McCartin a vast menu of techniques and styles at his disposal, enabling him to approach his chosen subject in the way that best communicates the emotions he wishes to capture. Light is always a notable feature of McCartin’s work, with tonal precision and color harmony woven into each, and every piece he produces, regardless of style or technique. His works can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide and he is represented in galleries in Australia, Europe and the USA. www.johnmccartin-artist.com

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: MERANA CADORETTE

I wish I could spin you a line like: ‘my brushstrokes are inspired by Wei Dynasty calligraphy, but my palette reflects the jewel tones of Medieval stained glass’. But that is not me. I am just an old grandmother soul that has been creating since I first got a chubby baby fist on a crayon. For decades, I have worked in a variety of media, in many sizes, and in several themes. Some may reoccur and occasionally mingle with others.

My artwork sprawls from impressionist over to, but never reaching, absolute realism. It reflects my life, mental state and interests. I adore dramatic color and very often lean towards a blue/orange dynamic. Skies are rarely calm, buildings should look old and lived in, and people should make you wish you could meet them.

I don’t exactly have a ‘chosen art form’. I began 45+ years ago with hand-built figures, then added watercolors, then acrylics… Along the way, I have tried marble, bronze-casting… I have worked from miniature figures, 9' tall with peacock feather vanes for eyelashes to a mural 150' x 42' tall. I enjoy colors, drama and challenges. I paint the things and people I have loved as I’ve journeyed through life. https://merana-cadorette.pixels.com/

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: RAYMOND QUENNEVILLE

Born in 1956 in Trois-Rivières (Canada), Raymond Quenneville is a self-taught artist who has been painting for over 40 years. After having explored a variety of media, he went back to oil painting, and decided to pursue his own unique style in expressing landscape and light. He likes to paint peaceful environments, expressing serenity and equanimity of places where it is good to stop and just be for a moment.

Winner of several national and international awards he has received many special mentions from juries and the public. He is a member of the Institut des arts figuratifs (IAF), the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), the Mondial Art Academia (MAA) and has been nominated as Master of Fine Arts by the Académie internationale des beaux-arts du Québec (AIBAQ). www.raymondquenneville.qc.ca
