BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: I am an artist based In Switzerland but grew up for half of my life in Australia. My mother is from England and father from Holland, thus I have been granted with the opportunity to see many different cultures. This has influenced my drawings and I have always had an eye out for natural but not the average scenes. My medium of choice is pencil; I am fascinated by the possibility of bringing a blank piece of paper to life but at the same time find it incredible how simple the medium is.

I have always been into drawing, starting with manga and comic figures and also sketching landscapes when on holidays. I started doing portraits in 2017 but really got into doing them more and spending more time on them in 2021. My inspiration comes from my grandpa, who painted a lot, as well as the artists Franz Gertsch, Jopie Huisman and Leonardo Da Vinci. https://www.frederickterpstra.com/

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: DANIEL WALTERS

I was born and raised in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, USA. I have always been artistically driven in every aspect of my life. The rural setting that I grew up in didn’t offer a lot of opportunity for my art to grow, but I still tried to stay involved in the small art community within my reach. After high school my art career was very promising, but then along came marriage and children. My responsibility to my loved ones started me down a path of hard work in jobs not related to art. It was a serious medical problem that would change my life forever and made it possible for me to return to work on my career in art. This journey was a struggle, and the path has had a lot of roadblocks along the way, but I have built a solid foundation of art and sales and the value of my artwork has increased significantly over the past few years. The lack of any major art galleries, and the small market for fine art here locally has made it difficult to have a consistent gallery sales record, so my work has always been a very diversified field of art sales. I have more work consisting of murals, portraits, logos, signs, custom commissions, art classes, and anything else art related that would make it possible for me to remain relevant in the art community. I have cofounded a nonprofit organization to help build a stronger local market for art and I volunteer as much as I can with any local art organization. I am currently represented by a local gallery, Hidden Talent Fine Art Gallery and Restoration, in Fort Smith, AR www.facebook.com/DanWOriginals
