Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.
BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Born in a tent in San Saba, Ira Kennedy is a fifth generation Texan. Growing up in numerous locations from Japan to Germany, his experiences are as diverse as his talents.
Artists of the past have had sudden shifts in their artistic style. Picasso’s revelation came once he saw African Art and Van Gogh’s discovery of Japanese art was equally life changing. Likewise, Ira’s exposure to Australian Aboriginal art and the ancient rock art of the Southwest Indians came together to evoke an artistic epiphany.
Since his two solo exhibitions and exhibiting in a group show, “The Art of Money”, in New York City’s Chelsea Gallery which included many internationally known artists, including Andy Warhol, Ira has had his share of success.
In 2015 his work was included in Acrylic Works 2, Acrylic Artist magazine, Southwest Art and several online publications His art is held in numerous private collections from Australia to South Korea, and New York to California. BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Spencer Frazer, the founder of SOG Knives and Tools, was known as one of the industries foremost designers of innovative award-winning outdoor gear. He is also a master Japanese aesthetic pruner and garden builder. Born and raised in Los Angeles Spencer moved to Seattle in 1989 to be closer to the outdoors. Exploring the wilds of Alaska and Canada, he became passionate about the environment and how it has been affected by man made climate change.
A self-taught artist, Spencer’s work is collected nationally and has been shown internationally winning top awards along the way. He was the artist in residence at Artsfund, one of the leading art organizations in the Northwest and has been seen extensively in dozens of shows through out the US.
