Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: The work of Wim Heldens can be found in collections all over the world, among which the collection of the Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten in The Hague, the AMC Collection in Amsterdam, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira (New York), the Howard Tullman Collection in Chicago, the MEAM in Barcelona (the European Museum of Modern Art), and various private collections in the USA, England, Australia, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Taiwan and The Netherlands.

AWARDS: In 1998 Wim Heldens won the Menena Joy Schwabe Award of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (Mall Galleries/National Portrait Gallery) in London; in 2000 he was awarded a grant from the Fonds voor de Beeldende Kunsten, Vormgeving en Bouwkunst in Amsterdam. In 2011, Wim Heldens won the prestigious First Prize of the BP Portrait Award of the National Portrait Gallery in London for which in 2017 he was commissioned to paint Lady Carol and Sir Harry Djanogly titled “The Collectors.” In 2022 Heldens won the first prize in the ModPortrait competition in MEAM Barcelona. http://www.wimheldens.com/
