The WORLD ART AWARDS winners in CATEGORY 8: ART BRUT live in NIGERIA, PHILIPPINES, USA, POLAND, UK & TAIWAN.

Artists from 79 countries competed in the 2023 WORLD ART AWARDS where 20 of the most revered galleries in the world were sent online images to score in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital and photography.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER: Joel is a Nigerian born surreal hyperrealistic ballpoint pen artist, whose skill with the pen will make you believe in Magic. A self-taught artist, he started drawing at the age of seven, and started drawing with pen in 2018. Although a bachelor’s degree holder in Civil Engineering, his first love has always been drawing. And his hard work paid off when in 2022, his art went international. His primary medium is ballpoint pen on paper. He believes in the saying “Art creates itself”, thus every creative process starts with his imaginative mind circling around the subject, message or concept to be created, while he subconsciously opens himself as a channel for art to flow through. Passing a message about the human mind and the environment has always been the major inspiration for his art, as evident in his artwork titles, such as Agony, Vengeance, Longevity, Vulnerable, Proudly African, and the his 2023 World Art Awards (WAA) “Art Brut” first place winner art titled ‘Emancipation’.

With his art, he hopes to achieve the ability to force change, comfort the grieving heart, and become a voice to the voiceless and his environment. https://www.instagram.com/bomajoelarts/
