The World Art Awards has announced its selection of the 20 Best Galleries and Museums globally for the year 2023, with Edvard Isabekyan Gallery receiving the award for the Best Gallery in Armenia. Each year, only one museum or gallery per country is chosen based on several criteria, including years of establishment, industry reputation, location, size, socially relevant exhibits, motivational and educational programs, represented artists, and references from artists, clients, and visitors.

In the Top 20 for 2023, the World Art Awards chose a museum spanning over 140,000 sq ft, along with some contemporary art galleries that are much smaller. The selection also included European historical museums with art and antiquities dating back thousands of years, some with masterpieces by renowned artists such as Botticelli, Mantegna, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Renoir, Monet, Gauguin, Chagall, Matisse, Picasso, among others. To balance, the awards committee also chose some very new and contemporary hotspots in diverse countries and cultures representing important young work, from painting to digital art, photography, and sculpture. The committee opted for large, modern art centers in Ghana and Zambia and a boundary-pushing contemporary facility with an influential international presence in China/Hong Kong. In Israel and Latvia, they chose stunning underground crypts and sub-basement venues that are cherished tourist attractions.

World Art Awards: “Our Best in Armenia is the Edvard Isabekyan Gallery, founded in 2004, opened in 2013. Edvard’s son Aram donated 28 paintings to the city of Yerevan for permanent exhibition. The large epical works show how history transforms today’s power, pride, virility and the spirit of past victory. Director Irina Isabekyan organizes events, lectures and meetings that are aimed to discover Edvard Isabekyan as a painter, writer, educator, caring citizen but foremost as a patriot.”
