MORE ON THE GALLERIES:

For well over three decades, Stan Mabry has been one of the top art dealers and owners of the oldest and one of the most respected art galleries in Nashville. This year, his gallery of Stanford Fine Art is approaching its 35th year in business. Stanford Fine Art specializes in American and European paintings, sculpture and works on paper from the 19th century to the present. Works formerly in the collection of Stanford Fine Art have been acquired by various art museums around the world as far away as the Musée American in Giverny, France, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts, the Art Institute of Chicago in Illinois, to as close as our local Cheekwood Museum of Art and the Tennessee State Museum. Nashville’s immense growth over the past few years has allowed Mabry to open a new gallery dedicated to modern and contemporary art, Stanford Contemporary, which makes it the newest oldest gallery in Nashville. Stanford Contemporary comprises a whole new wing to the existing gallery, taking its visitors from early 20th century art into modern and contemporary art through paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photography, mixed media installations and furniture. The new contemporary gallery is directed by Elena Graves, a Nashville native who has a master’s degree in art history from Vanderbilt University and who worked at Cheekwood and the Leu Gallery at Belmont University. Elena’s passion for art drives her to seek out equally visionary living artists, collectors and art enthusiasts.
