Roelof Rossouw is a successful full-time impressionist artist from Cape Town, South Africa. He works mainly in oil but also enjoys experimenting with acrylic and mixed media.
At the age of 14 Roelof painted his first oil canvas. He attended a three-year college course gaining a National Diploma in Graphic Design. Following college he worked for a medical university for eight years as graphic artist and medical illustrator. It was his mother who kept urging him to have an exhibition, which he finally did at the age of 31, to raves.
After painting everyday at the gallery where he worked, his style loosened and developed, leading to increasing sales and top gallery representation in Johannesburg, where his art sell to tourists, locals, VIPs and top collectors.
Rossouw’s sun-filled paintings are quickly acquired and highly anticipated and grace the walls of international collectors, including that of a famous Hollywood movie star.
Success and the rewards that go with it make it possible for the artist to travel overseas every year: painting vacations — in Italy, France, Ukraine and USA.
Roelof has 48 solo exhibitions to his name in South Africa and Cheltenham, UK… a three-man exhibition at the Gatehouse Gallery, Glasgow in 1999… also numerous group exhibitions in South Africa, London, Glasgow, Jersey, Galway, Armagh (N. Ireland), Montreal, Miami and at the Broadway Gallery, New York.
In 2014 Roelof was invited to take part in the annual American Art Awards and collected First, Second and Third Prize in the category HUMAN IMPRESSIONISM. Every year since he has continued to enter his best creations and continues to take top awards. In 2022 he was commissioned to paint a portrait of the new Zulu king, a top highlight of his impressive career.
