Painters, photographers, sculptors and digital artists from 62 countries competed in the most prestigious online art call, AMERICAN ART AWARDS, https://www.americanartawards.com/, where America’s 25 best galleries and museums score art in 50 categories. In this column, I’ll reveal the world’s best contemporary artists of 2020 one category at a time.

Winners in this category are from China, Russia, Italy, USA, Lithuania, Canda and South Africa.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER:

Liu Xiaowei, born in 1983, has been fond of painting since he was a child. He started to formally study drawing in junior high school. He studied at the Liaoning Provincial School of Arts and Crafts from 1999 to 2003, and from 2009 to 2011 at the Oil Painting Department of the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Each May the American Art Awards organization selects the 25 Best Galleries and Museums in America, then in autumn these revered art institutions vote on online art to decide the world’s best contemporary artists.
